Community & Marketplace

The Hoard Rules

The Hoard is built for artists, collectors and commissioners. These rules protect the public marketplace, honest transactions and other users while keeping private commission workspaces outside public discovery.

01 · Everyone

Core conduct

Respect other users

Harassment, targeted abuse, credible threats, stalking, intimidation, repeated unwanted contact and coordinated harassment are not permitted. Disagreements can happen; keep them professional and use reports or the official support channel when intervention is needed.

No scams, fraud or impersonation

Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent ownership of artwork, create fake transactions, manipulate reviews or marketplace activity, falsely claim payment, phish for credentials, or accept money with no intention of providing the agreed work.

Respect intellectual property

Only upload or sell material you have the right to use. Do not claim another artist's work as your own, remove signatures or watermarks without permission, or resell and commercially exploit artwork contrary to the rights granted by its creator.

02 · Public marketplace

Public content rules

Public means public-facing.This section applies to YCH listings, portfolios, public galleries, public OC galleries, profile artwork, banners, thumbnails, previews and other content discoverable outside a private order or message thread.

Use the correct content rating

Public content must be accurately classified as SFW, Suggestive or NSFW. Do not deliberately mislabel adult material to reach users who have not chosen to see it. The Hoard may correct a rating or reduce public visibility where needed.

No underage NSFW in public content

Sexual or sexually suggestive content involving characters depicted or presented as underage must not be published publicly on The Hoard. Characters shown in public NSFW or sexually suggestive material must be clearly presented as adults.

Underage characters may appear publicly in appropriate non-sexual artwork. This rule governs public publication and visibility; private order workspaces and direct messages are not public publication surfaces.

Use appropriate public previews

When the full artwork is explicit, use an appropriate thumbnail or preview where necessary: for example a censored version, alternate SFW cover, careful crop or clear rating. Users should be able to browse without being unexpectedly exposed to explicit imagery.

Prohibited public material

Do not publicly post stolen artwork, non-consensual real intimate imagery, malware or phishing material, illegal marketplace content, malicious impersonation, or content whose primary purpose is to expose, harass or humiliate a real person.

03 · Marketplace integrity

Keep discovery and transactions honest

No discovery manipulation

Use relevant tags and accurate listing information. Do not add unrelated popular tags, intentionally miscategorize content, mass-repost listings to manipulate visibility, coordinate fake engagement or otherwise manipulate search and discovery in bad faith. Publishing multiple legitimate copies of the same YCH is allowed.

Featured means paid visibility

Featured YCHs are clearly labelled promotional placements. Buying a Featured boost does not permit misleading metadata and does not guarantee a sale, a specific number of views or permanent ranking priority.

Payments must be represented honestly

Buyer-to-artist payments happen through the artist's chosen payment provider. Do not falsely mark payments as received, fabricate provider confirmations, falsify transaction references or pressure another user to misrepresent a transaction.

04 · Artists & sellers

Artist and seller rules

Describe listings accurately

Make clear what the buyer receives. Where relevant, state the number of slots, sale format, price or starting bid, turnaround, revisions, usage rights and important limitations. Do not hide conditions that materially change the offer after purchase.

Your boundaries remain yours

Artists may refuse a commission based on subject, complexity, character, availability or personal boundaries. A category being technically available on The Hoard does not oblige an artist to accept it.

Communicate and deliver in good faith

After accepting a paid commission, make a reasonable effort to complete the agreed work. If circumstances change, communicate with the buyer. Repeated abandonment of paid orders without communication can lead to selling restrictions.

Respect buyer references and private material

Character references and private commission materials supplied for an order should be used only as needed for that commission unless the buyer has separately authorized broader use or publication.

05 · Buyers & commissioners

Buyer and commissioner rules

Respect commission terms

Read the listing and artist terms before buying. Do not pressure an artist into work outside the agreed scope, unlimited revisions, substantial unpaid changes or subjects the artist has clearly refused.

Provide usable references

References should be reasonably clear and relevant. Do not deliberately misrepresent a character, slot assignment or request in order to bypass an artist's stated boundaries.

Reviews must reflect real experiences

Reviews may be positive or negative, but must relate to a genuine transaction. Do not use reviews for threats, extortion, retaliation, disclosure of private information or rating manipulation.

06 · Privacy first

Private communication

Private is not public discovery.Direct messages, order discussions, references and private deliveries are intended for their participants and are not automatically published to Explore, galleries or public profiles.

Do not expose private information

Do not publicly disclose another user's private messages, commission references, email address, home address, payment information, legal identity or other sensitive identifying information without permission.

Use reports and private tickets instead of public call-outs

When a platform issue needs intervention, use the in-site Report action where available and open a private ticket on the official The Hoard Discord for staff follow-up. This preserves useful context without unnecessarily exposing another user.

07 · Accounts

Security and platform integrity

Protect your account

Never knowingly share passwords, MFA codes, recovery codes, session credentials or private API secrets. Passkeys/FIDO2 and TOTP are recommended; Email MFA is available as a lower-priority alternative.

Do not attack or abuse the platform

Do not intentionally disrupt The Hoard, bypass access controls, exploit vulnerabilities for harm, scrape private information, automate abusive activity or attempt to access data you are not authorized to access.

Report security issues privately

Security issues should be reported through a private ticket on the official Discord. Do not publish working exploits, credentials or sensitive user data in public channels.

08 · Moderation

Enforcement

Actions are proportional

Depending on severity, context and history, The Hoard may correct a rating, reduce visibility, remove public content, issue a warning, revoke a promotion, restrict marketplace features, suspend selling privileges, suspend an account or permanently terminate an account.

Good-faith mistakes can be corrected

Not every mistake needs punishment. An accidental tag, rating or configuration error can normally be fixed. Enforcement is intended for harmful behavior, serious misuse and repeated violations.

Platform decisions can be challenged

If you believe a moderation action was made in error, open a private ticket on the official Discord and provide the relevant listing, order or account details. The Hoard may review the decision and available context.

Rules may evolve

The Hoard is an evolving service. These rules may be updated when features, legal obligations or marketplace risks change. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.

The principle

Freedom for artists. Privacy for users. Clear rules for the public marketplace.

These Community & Marketplace Rules form part of the Terms of Use and should be read with the Privacy Policy.
