Everything a character-art marketplace should have. In one place.
YCHs, commissions, adoptables, characters, discovery, artist storefronts, order workflow, reputation and collections — designed as one coherent marketplace instead of a patchwork of listings, DMs, spreadsheets and external tools.
THE HOARD is not trying to be a generic freelance platform with an art category. It is being built specifically around how character artists sell, how collectors discover work, and how commissions actually move from idea to delivery.

Why another marketplace?
The problem is not that artists need one more place to upload an image.
Character-art commerce is usually fragmented. Discovery happens on a social feed or auction board. References live in another tab. Terms are buried in descriptions. Availability is announced in a post. Payment happens elsewhere. Progress moves into private messages. Delivery becomes another link. The buyer then has no real collection layer, while the artist has little useful data about what worked.
THE HOARD is designed to connect those pieces. The advantage is not one isolated feature. It is the experience created when every feature understands the same artist, listing, character, order and collector.
The complete comparison
Purpose-built beats stitched together.
Exact features vary between services. This table compares the product models: dedicated YCH auction boards, general commission platforms and social galleries versus the integrated experience THE HOARD is building.
“0% THE HOARD fee” refers to THE HOARD not taking a platform percentage from the buyer-to-artist artwork transaction. Payment-provider fees can still apply. Optional Pro and promotional products are separate.
For collectors
Stop shopping with fifteen tabs open.
THE HOARD is designed to remember what you collect and make the next discovery easier.
Save your characters once, including their species, body type, traits, preferred styles and important constraints. From the character page, launch discovery around that OC instead of rewriting the same brief every time.

02 · Character Match
See which YCHs make sense before opening every listing.
Listings can describe supported species, body types, styles and constraints. THE HOARD can compare that structured information with a saved OC and surface a compatibility signal.

03 · For You
Discovery that knows the difference between popularity and relevance.
The personalized feed can use your characters, follows, saved listings and marketplace activity while still reserving discovery space for fresh work and artists you do not already know.

Character-art filters, not generic ecommerce filters.

05 · My Hoard
Your purchases can become a collection, not a receipt archive.
Completed artwork belongs in something more meaningful than an order table. My Hoard gives collectors a visual collection layer with privacy controls for what stays private and what can become part of a public profile.

06 · Never miss an opening
Follow the artist, not their posting schedule.
Artists can expose a real availability state. If they are closed, collectors can ask THE HOARD to notify them when commissions reopen. Scheduled Drops can also be followed before they go live.

For artists
Your storefront should do more than display thumbnails.
The goal is to remove repetitive administration while giving artists more control over presentation, discovery and workflow.
A profile designed to sell the work without flattening the artist.
Portfolio, live YCHs, commission availability, reviews, reputation signals, Drops and artist information live together. The storefront can communicate both personality and commercial clarity.

02 · Availability
“Commissions open” becomes structured data.
Set a status such as Open, Limited, Waitlist, Closed or Vacation rather than relying on an old bio line or a post that disappears in a feed. Collectors can react to the state directly.

03 · Drops
Turn a new YCH into an event.
Schedule upcoming work, build anticipation, let followers opt into reminders and give launches a dedicated place instead of hoping everyone sees the right social post at the right moment.

04 · Structured offers
Stop rewriting the same terms in every description.
Commercial information can be represented as actual fields: turnaround, revisions, supported subjects, rights, private-work options and add-ons. Buyers understand the offer faster and the order keeps a snapshot of what was selected.

05 · One workflow
From listing to delivery without losing the commercial context.
The order workspace keeps the commission attached to the listing, selected options and conversation. Direct messages and order conversations live in a unified inbox while order-specific communication remains tied to the job.

06 · Artist intelligence
Know what people actually respond to.
Studio analytics can expose listing views, saves, completed orders, approximate revenue, unique clients, repeat clients and top-performing work. The funnel instrumentation gives the platform a foundation for understanding where buyers stop.
Popular artists should succeed. New artists should still be discoverable.
A marketplace becomes unhealthy if yesterday's winners automatically receive all of tomorrow's exposure. THE HOARD's recommendation direction deliberately mixes relevance with exploration, freshness and exposure balancing.
That means a strong artist can keep earning visibility while a new creator still has a credible path into the feed. The objective is not artificial equality; it is preventing the marketplace from becoming permanently locked by historical popularity.

Trust & reputation
Trust should be visible, but it should not be reduced to one star number.
Reviews matter, but a marketplace can understand more: completed work, completion rate, delivery performance when measurable, repeat clients, cancellations and other reliable marketplace history. THE HOARD uses these signals to create richer context around a seller rather than pretending one metric tells the whole story.

Security
A creative marketplace still needs serious account security.
The platform supports modern account-security controls including TOTP authenticator codes, passkeys/WebAuthn, recovery codes, session management, CSRF protection and rate-limiting layers. Sensitive workflows remain server-validated rather than trusting browser JavaScript.
Collect art without turning yourself into an advertising profile.
THE HOARD is built around essential marketplace functionality rather than advertising surveillance. Collection visibility is controllable, private media is separated from public uploads, and account information that does not need to be public is not treated as profile content.

Mobile first where it matters
A Discord or social link should not open into desktop software squeezed onto a phone.
The marketplace navigation, discovery surfaces, cards, artist profiles and purchase-oriented screens are designed to remain usable on mobile because a large share of character-art discovery begins from a link shared in a community or social app.

No toll on the artwork
The sale belongs to the artist.
THE HOARD does not take a platform percentage from the buyer-to-artist artwork transaction. Payment providers can still charge their own processing fees, but THE HOARD's business model is designed around optional Pro capabilities and marketplace promotion rather than taxing every artwork sale.
That distinction matters most to independent artists: a marketplace should create enough value that people choose to pay for additional tools, not require ownership of a percentage of every commission just for existing between buyer and seller.

Why “The Hoard”?
A collection becomes a hoard.
Commission one piece of your character. Then another. Discover a new artist, win a YCH, adopt a character, save a favorite, commission them again. Years later, those separate transactions have become a personal gallery of artists, characters and memories. THE HOARD is built around that entire relationship with character art — not only the checkout.
The short version you can send someone
Why should I try THE HOARD?
Because it combines the things character-art buyers and artists normally spread across multiple platforms: YCHs, commissions, adoptables, OC profiles, character-aware discovery, availability, Drops, structured terms and add-ons, order conversations, artist analytics, richer reputation, collections, fairer discovery and modern account security — while THE HOARD takes no percentage cut from the artwork sale.
For collectors: find better-fit art faster and keep the result as a real collection. For artists: sell with clearer offers, better workflow, better presentation and useful marketplace data.
The objective is not to be another option. It is to become the obvious one.
THE HOARD is still in beta, which means the platform is being shaped while real artists and collectors use it. Feedback is not a formality here: the purpose of the beta is to identify friction, remove it and keep raising the standard until the marketplace feels indispensable.
New artist or established professional. First commission or hundredth character. The ambition is the same: make character-art discovery and commerce feel as considered as the art itself.
